Powell sends 100m Beijing message
Jamaican world record holder Asafa Powell eased to victory in the 100 metres with a 10.04 second stride out at the Melbourne IAAF Track Classic.
A cut left knee, which kept him away from last weekend's Sydney event ran his first race of the year.
behind him and out classed were Jamaican Michael Frater and former Australian record holder Matt Shirvington.
The trailing Frater was a far off second in 10.25 Shirvington third in 10.35.
Powell also broke the 10-year-old meet record of 10.06 set by former Olympic and world champion Maurice Greene of the United States and the US athletes seem to be nowhere right now that may change in August though as there will be thousands of kilos of beef ready and waiting for them in Beijing shipped by the USOC.
